The Tech Users Association of New Zealand (TUANZ) has announced the introduction of new board members and released their 2022/23 Annual Report. The news came in the wake of their recent Annual General Meeting (AGM), which was convened online.
The newly appointed board members, Annaliese Atina and Sid Kumar, will join the existing team. Current board members include Tristan Ilich, Jenna Wooley, Zoe Udy, Caitlin Metz, Andy Edwards, Matthew Harrison, Paul Littlefair, Vaughan Baker and Kaity Mitchell. The organisation also conveyed their gratitude to outgoing board members Wendy McGowan and Maxine Elliot.
Craig Young, CEO of TUANZ expressed his appreciation for the dedication of the board members; "I would like to acknowledge our Board members for their ongoing commitment of time and effort in providing their esteemed leadership. I would also like to thank our members who enable us to continue to speak for all users of digital technology in Aotearoa New Zealand."
During the AGM, Life Membership status was conferred in recognition of exemplary service to two longstanding members, Don Wallace of Wellington and Ernie Newman. The former served on the TUANZ Board since its inception in 1986 until 2007, while the latter was the CEO from 1999 to 2011.
Young outlined the future direction for TUANZ, saying, "We want to help ensure New Zealand makes the most of our digitally connected world. Our vision is that by 2033, all individuals and businesses in New Zealand will have unrestricted access to the technology and services they need to thrive; no one misses out on the opportunities available to them in the digital technology world; and digital engagement is safe and inclusive for all New Zealanders."
Among their ongoing initiatives, TUANZ continues to support the Digital Boost Alliance, a cooperative effort among public and private stakeholders to promote the acceptance and utilisation of digital tools. "Working together our members are helping drive digital acceleration in Aotearoa," Young adds.
In response to the easing of pandemic restrictions, TUANZ's event programme has rebounded, including its flagship conferences: Tech Users Summit 2023 and the Rural Connectivity Symposium. They also host regular events throughout New Zealand under the Future Leaders in Technology (FLINT) initiative in order to connect and empower those who aspire to be at the forefront of New Zealand's digital future.
