Spark waives early termination & moving fees for quake-affected customers
Thu, 17th Nov 2016
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Spark broadband customers who have been forced to move as a result of this week's earthquakes no longer have to deal with early termination and moving fees.

Spark Home, Mobile and Business CEO Jason Paris says waiving the standard fees means it's one less thing customers have to worry about.

“For those people it must be a hugely stressful time, and the news they may need to move is always devastating. We think the most important thing we can do is help make this process as smooth as we can at our end, and waiving fees is the right thing to do,” he says.

Early termination fees can vary and are usually applied when contracts are cancelled before their term has passed. These fees can vary depending on the type of connection and time left on the contract.

The company says that moving location entails a standard fee of up to $190, reflecting the cost to Spark of shifting the service. The fee depends on whether there is an existing line at the new address.

Customers who take their service to a temporary address and then back to their original address may also be charged.

Spark urges all affected customers to phone 123 or via Live Chat to discuss their needs as soon as they can. Live chat can be accessed through www.spark.co.nz.
