In a move that's set to further fuel its cloud-first game, cloud accounting provider Reckon have integrated a new web-based point of sale (POS) solution into Reckon One and Reckon Accounts Hosted.

Reckon Cloud POS will enable small businesses to track sales, manage inventory, reward customer loyalty, manage employees and run reports on any device.

Reckon NZ General Manager Catie Cotcher says there is increasing demand from SMEs for new online POS systems as opposed to traditional payment methods.

Cotcher states, “Mobility is key to success for a lot of small business owners around the country.

“Whether it's a market stall, door to sales or online store, Reckon Cloud POS provides our customers with the flexibility to manage their businesses on the go, regardless of whether they have access to the internet or not.

“It creates a seamless transactional experience that streamlines reporting and automates tax obligations while guaranteeing a continuous transfer of data between their POS and accounting system.

The launch follows the company's acquisition of the perpetual license to the source code from Pose early last year and supports Reckon's long-term commitment to helping New Zealand companies work more efficiently.

Pose has undergone adjustments to ensure it meets existing platform requirements and integrates seamlessly into Reckon's cloud ecosystem.

The global POS terminal market was worth approximately NZ$74.91 billion in 2016 and is projected to rise at a compound annual growth rate of 11.5% through to 2025.

This is driven by the uptake of wireless and mobile POS terminals amongst small and medium-sized businesses within the retail and hospitality sectors.
