Oops! Apple leaks its own iPhone 7 details on Twitter
Thu, 8th Sep 2016
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Whoops! It was a case of Apple leaking its own secrets just a tad too early. The company was so excited about its new releases that it posted details of the iPhone 7 45 minutes ahead of schedule on Twitter.

Apple was supposed to announce the excitement to executives at a presentation on stage, but somehow the buzz was a little too much. Was it machine or human error? We will never know.

Apple has removed all trace of the offending tweet, and it looks like the company's @apple account has gone into lockdown... for now. Maybe because the announcements would put their Twitter account into overdrive.

Nevertheless, social media was quick off the mark to capture the tweet before it disappeared, and now the proof remains. Now the world is abuzz with the latest announcements, revealing that the iPhone will be water resistant, have more storage (32GB the smallest model), and alongside the common silver, gold and rose gold, comes a very shiny and matte shade of black.

#AppleEvent has been another big hashtag battling it out, with Twitter users lamenting the loss of the iconic headphone jack, because the future is through wireless AirPods - According to Apple. One Twitter user even went as far as beheading their own Apple headphones.

Other users commented that history is indeed repeating itself, because if you want to use wired headphones now, you have to get a special connector that plugs into the charging port.

Some users were taking the tongue-in-cheek approach of asking if the earbuds come with a tracker, or with a 'find my headphones' feature.

New Zealand iPhone 7 orders start on September 16. Read more about the iPhone 7 here.
