LG takes OLED into digital signage for 'unrivaled' picture quality

FYI, this story is more than a year old

LG Electronics USA Business Solutions is taking OLED from the consumer marketplace to the commercial arena with paper-thin, dual-sided digital signage displays.

The new commercial OLEDs feature the ‘unrivaled' picture quality seen in LG's consumer OLED televisions and are available in curved and flat configurations.

Clark Brown, LG Electronics USA Business Solutions vice president of digital signage, says the new digital signage displays provide a ‘truly immersive viewing experience'.

"LG is able to empower business owners and system integrators to reach and engage consumers in ways never thought possible by creating a lasting impression and driving businesses' bottom line."

OLED enables each of the screen's eight million pixels to be turned on and turned off, enabling blacks rendered by the LG OLED displays to be up to 200 times deeper than those of an LCD panel, LG says.

The company's dual-view curved tiling OLED display uses slim tiles to form customisable displays that link two, three or four tiles together.

LG says the 65-inch portrait display provides an eye-catching dual sided view, offering customers a multimedia experience while providing retailers with a way to utilise their space more efficiently.

Each screen boasts 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) resolution, showcasing ‘a bigger, bolder and more lifelike viewing experience to capture consumer attention effortlessly', LG says.

High-performance system-on-a-chip (SoC) and an internal memory capacity enable perfect UHD-synced playback without the need for PCs or media players.

Meanwhile the dual-view flat OLED display offers a space-efficient dual-sided view to provide customers a two-sided media experience in full HD (1920 x 1080).

The 55-inch display measures less than 8mm in depth and is available in three installation options - ceiling suspension, wall-mount and floor stand.

The display has the ability to swap and mirror content on either side of the screen with a simple press of a remote control button.
