Thu, 23rd Oct 2014
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Kiwi start up Ora is offering three New Zealand businesses $50,000 grants to help them accelerate their growth plans.

Launched in July 2014, Ora is a cloud-based system that can be accessed by anyone, anywhere, anytime. It is a software platform designed to help SMEs grow by providing business owners with access to a range of tools to help with business planning, market and competitor analysis, performance tracking and a range of marketing services, as well as accessing advice and support from the Ora HQ team and its range of business partners.

Ora has a range of New Zealand partners including 2degrees, Vend, Westpac, NZPost, Xero and MYOB.

Eight Kiwi businesses are in the running for an Ora Dreams grant, which will be awarded at quarterly Ora Dreams events over the next 12 months, with the first three winners announced at the inaugural event in Auckland on 29 October.

As well as awarding business grants, the Ora Dreams events aim to stimulate conversation about the impact small and medium-sized companies have on the fabric of New Zealand’s economy.

Christina Domecq, Ora founder and CEO says, “everyday we’re reading the dreams from owners of growing Kiwi businesses. Nothing motivates us more to build the tools, services, partnerships and community to help them succeed”.

Ian Hankins, Westpac’s head of SME and industry specialists, says“97% of New Zealand businesses are SMEs. If they’re performing well then the country is successful. Ora Dreams grants encourages SMEs to talk about where they want to go and helps them on their path to business success.”

The judges will be looking for Kiwi businesses that are passionate about driving growth and demonstrating innovative ideas, resourcefulness and positive results using a wide range of media channels.
