The third annual Auckland Startup Weekend will be be held at ecentre on Auckland’s North Shore on June 15 to 17. Building on the successful international Startup Weekend model, Startup Weekend Auckland gives Auckland’s innovators the chance to develop business ideas that could fuel the city’s future and take their business from garage to global.

Aimed at entrepreneurs, Startup Weekends allow people to rapidly build and test ways of bringing ideas to market. Developers, designers, marketers, product managers and startup enthusiasts form teams to work on start-up ideas, building products, and launching.

Participants in Startup Weekend get hands on experience with entrepreneurial methodology, meet like minded people, and have a lot of fun along the way.

Worldwide there have been more than 460 Starup Weekends so far featuring over over 45,000 entrepreneurs and including successful weekends in  Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

The weekend begins with open mic pitches on Friday, as attendees inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday, teams design and develop business plans, prove their concept and streamline their startup vision. They are supported by  talented entrepreneurs, mentors and experts from several different startup fields.

On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes, get valuable feedback from judges and compete for a variety of prizes.
